Diet

We are what we eat

More Coming Soon!

This was one of the biggest changes I made and I have a lot to write about it - please bare with me until I finish up! The 2 food lists below are a great place to start in the meantime.

Anti-Inflammatory Diet

  • Lectin free for anti-inflammatory properties and gut health
  • I follow Dr. Gundry’s diet from ‘The Longevity Paradox’. I know it’s hard but I can say I noticed major positive changes within the first week in my digestive system. I have found healthy swaps for almost everything I thought I’d miss so ask if you want my go-tos! Thrive Market is awesome and cost-effective over Whole Foods.
  • You’ll see soy on this list. I know there is a part in the book where it notes that certain cultures may not have lectin sensitivities to certain foods because it has been eaten by them for 1000’s of years and over time, they’re body adapted to allow it. Worth researching a little further for you. However soy is more often on the no-list for cancer for a lot due to high levels of estrogen.
  • Reduce sugar as much as possible. The recommended daily amount for women is 25g a day max, 35g for men.
  • Limit/ cut out processed foods
  • I was vegetarian but went vegan with the exception of organic/ veg-fed/ free-range eggs 2-3x a week for the healthy fats and amino acids. Animal protein overall is not good for cancer.
  • NO Sesame seeds/ oil for its methionine content.
  • Try to limit eating to 8 hours a day for its numerous health benefits. (Intermittent fasting)
  • Try not to eat 3 hours before bed.
  • Brief 15-minute walks after meals do wonders for digestion and preventing insulin spikes later on. Especially helpful after dinner!
  • Note that for the keto baking mixes and sweets – just because they’re healthier than their sugary counterparts does not mean you should eat them all the time. The more sweet stuff you eat, the more you crave it! Case in point, I can binge eat those keto cinnamon glazed walnuts but naturally stop at a small handful of the raw ones. It feels better to give your body clean foods!
